The stable map — visualize boxes, horses, and your entire facility

Twelve boxes. Three aisles. A paddock row to the north, another to the south. Two wash stalls, a tack room, and a feed storage. It all exists in your head. But how is the new boarder who just signed a contract supposed to find where Doris is?

The old answer: a laminated note on the bulletin board. The new answer: an interactive stable map in your pocket.

The old way

In most stables, the “map” looks something like this:

This works well enough when you have eight boxes and the same boarders for three years. But as soon as someone switches boxes, a new horse moves in, or a substitute comes to muck out — the system falls apart.

How the EquiDuty stable map works

EquiDuty has a built-in visual map feature where you draw your stable layout digitally. No CAD skills required — you drag and drop boxes, aisles, and areas on a canvas that you can freely zoom and pan.

1. Draw your layout

You start with a blank canvas. Add boxes by dragging out rectangles. Name them — Box 1 through Box 12, or “Pony aisle” and “Main barn” if that fits better. Add wash stalls, tack rooms, and paddocks if you want your entire facility in one place.

The result is a digital copy of your stable that everyone can see.

2. Assign horses to boxes

Click a box and select a horse. Doris goes in Box 7. Casper in Box 3. New horse arriving next week? Assign it now — the box shows as occupied.

Changes are visible to all stable members immediately. No laminated note to update.

3. Everyone sees the map on their phone

When a boarder opens the app, they see the stable map with their horse highlighted. The substitute mucking out on Saturday morning sees exactly which boxes need doing and which horse is in which one. The vet coming to check on Doris finds the right box without asking anyone.

4. Move and update with ease

Need to switch boxes because Casper does not get along with his neighbor? Drag the horse from Box 3 to Box 10. Done. The history is saved so you can see who was where and when.

What difference does this make in practice?

Before EquiDuty:

“I didn’t know where the new horse was. I asked in the group chat but nobody answered. I mucked out every box just to be safe.”

With EquiDuty:

“I opened the map, saw that Nova is in Box 9, mucked her box, and checked off the task. Took a minute.”

It is not just about saving time — it is about giving everyone in the stable the same information. The boarder who started last week should be able to find their way just as easily as the one who has been there for five years.

More than just boxes

The stable map shows your entire facility if you want:

You build the map once and adjust as you go. It takes ten minutes to set up and saves hours of confusion every month.

Get started

You do not need design software or technical experience. Here is how:

  1. Create a free account — the stable map is included in all plans
  2. Draw your boxes by dragging and dropping on the canvas
  3. Assign horses — click a box and select a horse
  4. Invite stable members — they see the map instantly in the app

Within ten minutes you have a digital stable map that everyone can use. And the note on the wall? It can finally retire.
